David Wiebe

Our father had his share of challenges, but he persevered and worked hard to achieve his dream to succeed. His strong work ethic has been passed onto all of his children. We honour him by continuing to operate the family business with his mission and corporate values.

dwiebe David Wiebe, Founder (1941 -2012)

Born in Winkler, Manitoba, David Wiebe was the second of seven children. The family moved to Clearbook, British Columbia where David attended MEI and Abbotsford Secondary School. As a teenager, he worked in the peat bog with his father, a logging camp in Port McNeil and on the Bennett Dam in Northern BC.

In the mid 1960’s, Dave traded his car for a building lot and a $400 line of credit at the local lumber yard. His building career began with the first house he constructed in Abbotsford. Not long after he married and started a family. Three children and a few homes in between, the family home was Dave’s greatest source of pride and joy for the wonderful gardens he nurtured and the family gatherings with his wife’s home cooking.

Dave’s construction business progressed from building houses to framing apartments for developers. By 1973, Dave started to construct his own apartment and commercial buildings. His sons soon joined him in the family business, learning right alongside their father.

Dave loved construction and machines, but he never forgot his frugal beginnings. He’d often be found straightening used nails and most projects started with a sketch on a napkin. Husband, father, grandfather and friend, Dave was honest, unbelievably humble and loved to work. His dry wit, keen insights and his firm handshake will be missed by those who knew him in the business world.
